The Procedure
If your “enlarged breasts” are basically simply excessive fatty tissue, your surgeon may op to use liposuction. If the extra glandular tissue is the main reason, the tissue may be surgically removed with a scalpel. This excision may be performed as an individual procedure or together with liposuction.
During the removal procedure, the incision is performed on the outer nipple (areola) or around the underarm area. The doctor cuts off the extra glandular tissue, fat and external skin from the pigmented area surrounding the areola and from the edges and lower portion of the breast by going through the incision. The significant reductions that require the removal of a major portion of tissue and skin may demand larger incisions and more noticeable scars.
